Our First Trip As New Parents, The Intercontinental Monterey, CA

Intercontinental Monterey California

Being someone who loves to travel, it was a blessing to meet a partner with a similar case of wanderlust. Finding out we were pregnant kept us grounded, something foreign to us. But the time has come, and we are excited to share our love of adventure with our bundle of joy.

New Year's Eve, along with baby Rio's two-month birthday, was the perfect time to celebrate with a getaway. A chance to dip our toes into traveling with our new addition.

Being our first expedition with Rio, we needed to make it easy-peasy. We wanted a destination that wouldn't entail a ton of travel, and most importantly, was relaxing. The ocean is our happy place, so we scoured the coastline for an ideal locale. Monterey, a quick hop down the coast, ended up being the perfect choice for our road trip.

We decided to stay at The Intercontinental Clement Monterey. It hugs the ocean making it the ideal hotel for our vacation desires. Oceanview rooms with fireplaces made lounging easy.

Keeping our stay hassle-free, we made breakfast and dinner reservations at The C restaurant located within the hotel. The restaurant views and service were spectacular. The chefs even concocted dishes for my vegan needs.

The hotel location in the middle of Cannery Row made shopping and morning beach walks simple. A huge plus was not having to venture far from the hotel in case the baby commanded us back.

Our first venture as new parents went off without a hitch. We are impressed and proud of our little one and how well he did on his first trip.

We shouldn't be so surprised he probably inherited the travel bug from his parents.

Let's see how he does on test trip #2.
