The Pink Palace of the Pacific, Our stay at the Royal Hawaiian, Waikiki
When I was pregnant, it was like a broken record hearing I wouldn’t be able to travel as I did before, or that traveling with a baby would be difficult. We decided early on that although our travel dynamic would change, it would not stop. So here we are just returning from a trip that we decided to go on last minute. By last minute, I mean we decided to go to Hawaii on a Thursday and were on a flight Friday morning. A separate post on traveling with our literal bundle of joy is coming. This post is dedicated to the hotel we chose. Nothing seemed more perfect than taking our little prince to the “Pink Palace of the Pacific.”
The Royal Hawaiian opened in 1927 and was built on land once home to King Kamehameha. The hotel was constructed in a Spanish-Moorish style popular in the period. The hotel's pink hue was influenced by Portuguese architectural design. It became a glamorous destination for those that could afford the luxury and sought adventure.
The Pink Palace is situated beachfront in Waikiki with panoramic views of the infamous diamond head. The beach is bustling and the turquoise water inviting. Here you can easily tan the day away. It's best to reserve lounge chairs and signature pink umbrellas provided by the hotel. Our time at the beach is limited with a 5-month-old, so the pool became our next option. The pool sits beachside and offers restaurant service along with shade from the palm trees. Rio thoroughly enjoyed hanging out in the cabana, fancy baby.

The hotel grounds are shrouded in tropical fauna. Morning walks through the garden areas with Rio were peaceful and relaxing. Morning yoga, one of the many activities offered at the hotel, takes place in the garden underneath the big beautiful Banyan tree. There was no better way to start the day than with the sounds of many birds filling your ears while breathing into yoga poses.
