I'm an Island Girl
It's always great when people ask where I'm from expecting some exotic locale. To have a little fun I say "The Islands", which again sparks thoughts of exotic, warm weather, beachy, palm tree lined islands. These islands are exotic, but not in the way one would typically think.
American Chic + Chilean Poet= Brazilian Girls (a+c=b)
I was in heaven basking in the sun, taking in the great views while visiting the house of the infamous Chilean poet Pablo Neruda in Valparaiso, Chile. As I was there one of his poems which was turned into a song by the band Brazilian Girls, played over and over in my mind. So I strolled the gardens and, the words of his poem, the lyrics of their song playing as I took in the spirit of this man I so admire. Me gustas cuando callas porque estás como ausente...........
