Los Angeles Fashion Week with Vicken Derderian
Vicken
Derderian and Kyung Hwa Kim are the design team behind the label, Vicken
Derderian. The duo met while honing their design skills in the master’s program
at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. They have brought their
talents together on the labels last two collections. The pair recently showcased their Fall/Winter
2017 collection at LA Fashion Week. Structured pieces a nod to Derderian’s
architecture background paired flawlessly with chunky knits, Kim’s specialty. The
collection hosted a rich color palette ranging from crisp white, indigo blue
down to a deep ox blood-ish burgundy. The silhouettes encompassed both diagonal and
oversized pieces that remained extremely feminine. Derderian stated that they
design for the confident woman, the models in there chic slicked back chignons
exuded just that.
